Protest against abduction of 2 farmers

eople of Kovul Ara area in Sevanagala last morning (Nov. 17th) staged a protest campaign against the abduction of two fellow farmers.Unidentified armed persons have abducted the two, identified as K.A. Dushyantha Duncan and K.G. Sumanapala.Campaigning at Manduma Junction in Sevanagala, the protestors said the agitation was organized after no news was received about the abductees.Around 350 villagers displayed placards that read ‘human lives threatened by unofficial groups of thugs of Rajapaksa regime’ and ‘release the 2 farmers who were against crop damage from cattle’.According to provincial reports, the two had been abducted after being questioned by Embilipitiya Police over the disappearance of two cows.Armed persons dressed in black claiming to be the police have abducted the two at 2.00 am on Nov. 11th Police in Embilipitiya, Kuttigala, Udawalawa and Sevanagala have denied arresting these two persons to concerned relatives.
