Abducted and released - Horowpathana

4 civilians held hostage by the LTTE terrorists in the Horowpathana area have been released this evening (Nov 18). A group 9 civilians who had been engaged in sand mining in the Neluwa Lake, were abducted by a group of 6 armed LTTE terrorists on Sunday (Nov 16). Later, 5 of the civilians had been released by the terrorists with their 2 vehicles ordering them to bring food for them. The civilians initially released, told the police that they had been given 40,000 rupees by the terrorists to buy food for them and meet them with the items at 10.30 AM next day. According to the defence sources in the area, the remaining four civilians have returned this evening while a special operations have been launched searching for them. Police conduct further investigations.
